Azubi

Trainees and apprentices are known as Azubis or Auszubildende. They are trained within the German dual system (das duale Ausbildungssystem), which comprises practical on-the-job training in recognized occupations with theoretical instruction at a Berufsschule. During the training period Azubis receive a small wage from their employer. In order to gain professional qualifications Azubis take an examination at the end of their two- or three-year apprenticeship. The exam is conducted by a board of examiners such as the chamber of industry and commerce, the chamber of crafts, or representatives of employers and vocational school teachers
